AEC is seeking a hands-on Health & Safety Manager to join our environmental construction team. The Health and Safety Manager will be responsible for establishing working relationships with operations and project teams to ensure consistency in the interpretation and implementation of company and client-driven processes across projects. In this role, the ideal candidate will have a proven record in the practical application of health and safety management, recent hands-on experience designing and delivering health and safety training, ability to implement health and safety policies and procedures along with strong project management capabilities.


This role will provide leadership, direction and safety-focused guidance and awareness of the organization’s overall safety culture.


The Health and Safety Manager will maintain open communication with key stakeholders to support company H&S-related objectives. This position plays a pivotal role in the company’s safety management and program implementation, monitoring project activities for compliance with safety requirements and perform formal safety inspections/audits regularly.

Key Responsibilities:

Our Health & Safety Manager sets the tone for corporate safety & risk management. Their core responsibility is to proactively plan, implement & maintain the company's safety program, ensuring a safe, healthy & accident-free work environment. To do this, the successful candidate will be charged with the following facets of the health & safety program:

  • Ensure compliance with all safety-related regulatory issues. This can include the preparation, updating and implementation of company safety policies and standards
  • Provide technical environmental, safety and health expertise and leadership. Maintain a working knowledge of EPA, OSHA and other regulations including permitting
  • Lead and manage up and down the organization to establish results-oriented safety places and processes
  • Prepare written environmental, safety and health programs, plans and policies
  • Identify company training needs – develop and monitor training programs and goals
  • Perform new product/process reviews, including but not limited to process hazard analyses, operator training, analysis of environmental regulatory impacts,
  • Implement controls to minimize safety and occupational health hazards
  • Lead the Crew Safety Meetings
  • Coach and mentor staff on environmental and safety matters
  • Ensure compliance with the corporate worker’s compensation program including working with internal personnel and third-party administrators, to effectively investigate and resolve claims in an expeditious and cost-effective manner
  • Review and manage injury/illness and non-injury incidents (including near misses), investigations, and reporting. Perform root cause analysis to prevent future incidents
  • Promote safety and health awareness through internal company documentation, meetings, newsletters, and other training programs
  • Conduct on-site safety inspections, providing comprehensive and detailed reporting
  • Maintain corporate safety library (e.g., videos, regulations, MSDS, reference materials and manuals), including safety content for the company website
