Reporting to the Vice President of Supply Chain North America, the Director - North American Logistics Operations at Andritz Inc., leads and manages a team of 3 – 5 team members responsible for supporting and assisting in the development, organization and management of multi-divisional logistics projects and procedures, from manufacturers to customers, including international inbound and outbound transport, as well as domestic logistics functions. This person will work closely with the VP of Supply Chain North America to set the strategic vision for the North American Logistics team. In addition to close collaboration with supply chain and business team members in North America, this person will also collaborate with various supply chain and business team members in Europe, Asia, Latin America and Australia.
Responsibilities
- Leading and managing cross functional teams in North America and Internationally to ensure customer requirements are clearly understood and delivered.
- Daily interaction with 3rd party logistics providers and support of internal stakeholders to execute the projects in the most efficient way to meet the customer’s requirements.
- Provide technical logistics expertise to cross functional teams.
- Ensure all key stakeholders, logistics team members and leadership are informed of current transportation market conditions globally.
- Participate in strategic planning with sales and project management teams on current and prospective customer opportunities.
- Supervise and control project milestones, tasks, scope, timelines, expenses and risks that impact customer delivery requirements.
- As necessary, process international and domestic shipments by verifying destination, route, rates, delivery times, documentation and dispatching to carriers.
- Improve logistics processes and reduce logistics costs, manage negotiations and contracts.
- Manage relationships with internal stakeholders as well as with 3rd party logistics service providers.
- Ensure the quality and accuracy of the shipping documentation; domestic and international, are completed and maintained at all times.
- Ensure compliance with government regulations.
- Ensure compliance with the Andritz procurement policy.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of export and import rules and Regulations.
- Knowledgeable in how to transport large, oversized products by ocean and land.
- Able to read technical transportation drawings a plus.
- Excellent problem solving and resolution skills.
- Ability to effectively multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail- oriented.
- Should be self-motivated, pro-active and capable of working independently as well as in a team environment.
- Advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word, SAP knowledge is a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience and Education
- 10 -15 plus years of experience in international trade related activities including import and export functions, and/or experience in domestic trucking/heavy haul transport.
- Bachelor’s Degree in International Business/Trade, Supply Chain.
- MBA a plus, but not required.
