Responsibilities
- Answer all incoming phone messages and forward to the appropriate provider
- Suture removals & site checks - getting available provider to evaluate if needed
- Patch Testing & Urine pregnancy test, when needed
- Phone call - scheduling appointments for follow up surgeries/follow up appts
- Schedule all Mohs appointments as well as schedule appointments with appropriate plastics specialist for repair when required.
- Arrange referrals out from AE office to appropriate facilities (general surgeons, UNC, Duke). Copy appropriate office notes and fax over
- Handle FMLA documentation as required by law for patients
- Record all pathology results in the pathology log. In addition, mark “done” if no additional requirements, or mark the date of the follow up visit with provider
- Review path log regularly to be sure all follow up appts have been done. If not, review patient chart and make phone call to patient to reschedule
- Assist in the development and training of support staff to ensure proper support for the service providers
- Address client/patient concerns. Follow-up on client/patient problems, complaints and inquiries, with research to assure satisfactory completion
- Send/receive patient medical records in accordance with Health Insurance. Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other state and federal regulations
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited RN program
- Active RN license in NC
- 1-2 years of experience in a clinical nursing environment required. Experience working in a private practice setting is strongly preferred
