PURPOSE OF JOB:
The Director of Data Engineering and Governance will be part of the IT SLT team reporting to the Chief Technology Officer SDx and will focus on driving the data strategy as a connected part of the SDx Mars Petcare ecosystem. The role will also be responsible for leading the development of data assets, privacy frameworks, and data standards and providing input into and managing the data roadmap. The role will also provide connectivity with other Divisions for broader Ecosystem impact and benefit creation.

Drive the data strategy as a connected part of the SDx Mars Petcare ecosystem.
Lead the development of data assets, privacy frameworks, and data standards.
Ensure effective data provision to the broader solution and return flows of data to benefit systems, application, and users. Ensure changes are managed effectively.
Oversee data access rights and rules, and the processes to ensure appropriate access is maintained.
Contribute, where applicable, to privacy frameworks, terms, consents, and approaches to ensure we position ourselves to empower consumers, to effectively leverage data for their advantage, to abide by all laws and relevant best practices.
Drive Master Data Management collaboration and standards and provide leadership in key areas.
Define and drive best practice data collection from products and services.
Define and optimize data quality metrics.
Data engineering c hange management of data models and architecture and technologies.
Accountability for data subjective area expertise, data translation, and documentation
Leads data transformation between relative system.
Data Stewardship and Quality
Segment and/or Division Data Standards Ownership
Division Data Ownership
Ensure quality and consistency of data (across the whole lifecycle)
Data Acquisition and Governance
Ownership model over consumer interaction points and adherence to compliance practices (e.g., consents, asset owners)
Knowledge over specific data management practices
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree required and/or mix of technical certifications/experience that reflect technical acumen.
DAMA CDMP certification (or similar) preferred.
Master’s degree preferred (Technical or Business majors)
Experience with the direct management and governance of data (stewardship, quality, governance, MDM, privacy, etc.)
Experience managing and prioritizing portfolio of data projects.
5 years working across an ecosystem of databases with complex structures to support the creation of business value.
Direct experience and working knowledge of GDRP preferred.
Experience working with large datasets (100s of millions of rows or more).
3 years communicating results to executives (division or segment senior leadership) preferred.
3 years leading team(s) of data professionals preferred.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Deep and rich experience in working with data and data management technologies within complex organizations.
Experience in data leadership role, driving business change through proactive engagement and process management.
Experience working in a multi-business unit or multi-client environment that emphasizes collaboration, efficiency, and teamwork.
Deep and varied experience in data projects with a focus on cross-company data partnerships or acquisitions
Proven ability to engage both leaders and professionals in data, technology, and integration on the data journey.
Experience with a focus on working with multi-brand organizations, consumer analytics and personal and/or sensitive data.
Proven ability to influence leadership, able to persuade leaders to change behaviors and invest behind new approaches and strategies.
Great at developing new relationships, driving positive change, and matching analytics opportunities to data acquisition strategy.
Ability to communicate complex subjects in a clear and simple way.
Excellent planning, project management, organizational orchestration, and peer relationships skills
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Extensive sitting, phone, and computer use
Extend and reach with hands and arms and use hands and fingers.
Occasionally required to bend, kneel, stoop, or crouch
May be required to lift, move, and carry up to 15 lbs.
