What are the responsibilities and job description for the Catastrophe Modeling Analyst position at Aon?
As part of an industry-leading team, you will help empower results for our clients by delivering innovative and effective solutions on our Reinsurance Solutions line in Minneapolis, MN and Chicago, IL.
Senior Analysts are expected to be proficient in completing standard analyses with limited guidance, while also taking a higher-profile role in advanced analyses, enhancing workflows. This role would also be mentoring junior team members. Senior Analysts will be more active in communicating with clients, presentation development and addressing a variety of client and internal needs.
Role Responsibilities:Prepare property insurance policy data for catastrophe risk analysis using SQL Query Analyzer and other tools. Create reports to communicate findings to internal and external clients and partners.
Use financial models to craft and lead catastrophe reinsurance programs
Provide real-time loss estimates of actual catastrophic events around the world
Prepare/send catastrophe risk assessment data to reinsurers and participate in reinsurance market calls
Assist clients in the understanding of catastrophe risks, sensitivity studies, and added analytics based on catastrophe/climate model results.
Skills and experience that will lead to success:- BA/BS in Economics, Finance, Math, Meteorology, Physics, Environmental Sciences or other similarly quantitative or analytically-orientated major
- 2-5 years of direct industry experience in catastrophe/climate modeling, data cleanup/validation/analysis or experience in an analytical field; preferably analyzing complex datasets
- Advanced user of SQL, Excel, and PowerPoint
Desired Skills (not required, but would help you stand out)
- Programming experience using R or Python
- Strong visualization software skills (Tableau, Power BI, etc.)
- Experience/interest in climate science and modeling

Pay Transparency Laws:The salary range for this position is $73,100 to $97,400 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.
