Saw Cutter

Summary: The saw cutter operator is responsible for operating a saw cutting machine to cut through concrete and asphalt surfaces to access and repair underground water, sewer, and storm drain lines. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

• Ensures that saw cutting machine is maintained and inspected on a daily basis 
• Operating the saw cutting machine to cut through concrete and asphalt surfaces to create opening for accessing underground utility lines
• Removing cut sections of concrete and asphalt in a safe and efficient manner
• Collaborating with crews to ensure that the utility lines are exposed and accessible for repair or replacement
• Verifies that the measurements of cuts are correct and match work order
• Use proper size blade for all cuts
• Load and unload equipment and materials
• Vacuum slurry from all cuts
• Communicate with project staff with any updates or challenges that arise
• Complies with all safety policies and procedures 

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements: 

• No minimum education required
• Training or experience in specialty areas such as wet utilities, concrete, asphalt preferred
• Able to operate as well as maintain mechanical equipment and tools is preferred
• Must possess and maintain a current Driver’s License 
• Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given
• Receive classroom and on-the-job training attentively and work to expand your knowledge and experience.  Apply the same on the job

Physical Requirements: 

• Must be able to lift and carry up to 80 lbs. 
• Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards. 
• Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
