Role: Physical Properties Scientist
Rate: $23/hr - $26/hr (dependent on experience)
Shift: Monday to Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM
Duration: Through the end of the year with an extension; long-term and renewable contract!
Location: Jacksonville, FL - on-site
Purpose of Role:
To define the requirements and qualifications necessary to perform the responsibilities of a Physical Properties Scientist for Combination Products.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine testing support as per LIMS submissions or special testing requests communicated in writing, and perform method applicability activities according to protocols.
- Provide feedback to improve existing methods.
- Test samples, including solutions and lenses, using various techniques and methodologies (e.g., refractive index using a refractometer, absorbance/transmission using a spectrophotometer, mechanical properties using tensile techniques (Instron frame), gravimetric water content, oxygen permeability (custom instrument), contact angle (goniometer or tensiometer), and solution analyses (e.g., pH, conductivity, osmolarity)).
- Receive and organize samples in the lab for routine testing.
- Set up instrumentation as needed for analysis.
- Follow approved SOPs.
- Adhere to all EHS policies for required PPE and waste management.
- Maintain a record of all work via laboratory notebook as per GxP guidelines.
- Perform all work based on GxP guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Material Science, Chemistry, or a related scientific/engineering field is required.
- 1-2 years of working experience in R&D, a GxP lab supporting pharmaceuticals or medical devices, or an appropriate scientific field is preferred.
- Ability to operate analytical/physical instruments with little to no supervision after training.
- Thorough knowledge, understanding, and application of principles, concepts, and practices of cGMP/GLP/GDP guidelines.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
