Job Description:
The role requires you to be a guide, coach, and mentor to a team of QA analysts who must meet software release goals and expectations. This position supports overall QA vision through oversight of and direct participation in all aspects of our testing efforts, including the software QA testing process, test planning and scheduling, test case development, and evaluation of test results to determine fitness for release.
To be successful in this position, you must work directly on QA testing, provide guidance to the team, report issues, and work collaboratively within our agile organization and Product/Development/QA team structure. The right candidate will be hands-on and have the ultimate responsibility for the output of the QA team, as well as the opportunity to impact the growth of both their direct reports and our product offerings.

Job Responsibilities
- Exercises discretion and independent judgment while leading, managing, and directing the work of direct reports, including hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating staff, and recommending or initiating promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action
- Stays abreast of industry advances in the QA Engineering discipline to improve efficiency of execution; researches and evaluates new technologies to determine their practicality of implementation
- Establishes and enhances processes, standards, and best practices for quality assurance team and monitors adherence to standards on a regular basis
- Contributes to and oversees the creation of test plans, test cases, automated test scripts, automation frameworks, and process documentation based on the overall PM, Agile, SDLA, and QA processes
- Provides guidance to QA analysts in the development of estimates and creation of testing deliverables. Reviews detailed testing deliverables frequently to ensure quality of work
- Creates and executes test cases that ensure user stories and bug fixes are correctly implemented
- Identifies and documents software faults and interacts with the development staff to isolate and resolve testing and quality issues
- Informs senior management of enterprise-wide exposure to risk relative to releases and works to effectively mitigate stated risk
- Forecasts demand for release and testing resources, and identifies opportunities for greater efficiency across the enterprise
- Educates and influences the organization in following and continuously improving release testing processes
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or an Engineering-related field
- 7 years' experience involving quality assurance management and operations
- 5 years' experience in an agile software development environment
- Superb communication and presentation skills
- Proven track record in fostering, grooming, and growing QA teams
- Proven track record in attracting new talent and retaining key talent
- Ability to quickly understand and assess technical aspects of our products and components
- Previous direct experience in C#, .Net, ASP.NET, Windows Forms, WCF, Microsoft SQL Server, Transact SQL, unit testing, and query optimization strongly preferred
- Proficiency with web-based applications and database principles a plus
- Knowledge of PCI Payment Application Data Security Standard (PA-DSS) audits a plus
- Knowledge of restaurant or retail point of sale (POS) software a plus
- Experience using Team Foundation Server (TFS) or related software a plus
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Proven ability to focus on process improvements and key performance metrics that add to the overall effectiveness of the QA Team
