Job Position: Design Engineer
Direct Report: Engineering Manager
Job Responsibilities mainly consist of, but not limited to:
Standing/Walking: Occasionally (10%)
Sitting: Frequently (70%)
Lifting: Occasionally (10%)
Stooping/Bending: Occasionally (10%)
Normal Working Hours: Normal business hours are 9:00AM to 5:00PM. Some overtime can be expected when project development needs to be expedited. Flex time is acceptable; 7:00AM to 3:00PM, 8:00AM to 4:00PM, etc.
Other Requirements:
Education: Graduate technical degree, college education with mechanical or electrical engineering as a major course of study or equivalent career experience encompassing machine operation and equipment diagnostics, troubleshooting, repair, preventative maintenance, electronics, and machine shop operations.
Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of engineering design experience, especially with SolidWorks software.
Communication: Ability to read/write at a college graduate level. Ability to communicate with supervisors, co-workers, vendors, customers, etc. during design and diagnostics while providing solutions to problems.
Visual acuity: Ability to adjust visual focus between close work, distant objects, and 3D.
Hearing acuity: Ability to comprehend mechanical and electrical devices in operation.
Software: Working knowledge and understanding of SolidWorks, PDM, Trello, Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams, internet browsers, etc.

Job Position: Design Engineer
Direct Report: Engineering Manager
Job Responsibilities mainly consist of, but not limited to:
- Perform research and development of new products, concepts, and systems
- Perform destructive and non-destructive testing on current and future designs
- Research and understand codes and standards for industries APG Vision provides products and services
- Design prototype 3D models and drawings using SolidWorks CAD software
- Retrofit existing products to meet the needs of new projects, including creating custom parts as needed for process improvements
- Create and construct prototypes for physical testing and costing confirmation
- Communicates project status updates to management via Microsoft Teams, email, Trello, etc.
- Join/lead in-person and virtual meetings with co-workers, customers, and vendors
- Write reports, customer product manuals, assembly manuals, and meeting reports
- Completes projects and tasks assigned by management in a timely manner
- Assist assemblers build new products and answer assembly questions
- Organize and maintain engineering files using PDM on the company server
- Follow OSHA and UL requirements withing industry and APG Vision business standards during the development of new products
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized working environment
