About the role:
The Jr. Accountant is part of the Apixio Finance team and will play a significant role in
accounting operations, including entering daily transactional activity as well as supporting the
month end close process. This is a part-time position with a flex schedule requiring up to 48
hours during month end close (2 days prior and 4 business day close) and up to 16 hours/week
thereafter.
This position will report to the GL Accountant and is responsible for processing and recording
accounts payable and credit card transactions, preparing month end journal entries including
semi-monthly payroll, bank and account reconciliations, and other accounting support as
needed. The ideal candidate will be well-organized, detail-oriented, flexible, efficient and able to
work independently.
What you will own:
- Enter AP transactions in Bill.com and route to appropriate approvers
- Review and categorize credit card transactions
- Prepare journal entries with proper supporting documentation including monthly payroll and related accruals, expense accruals and allocation entries
- Perform monthly bank and credit card account reconciliations
- Record fixed asset additions and disposals, reconcile to general ledger
- Prepare and distribute annual 1099-NEC/MISC forms
- Other ad hoc projects as necessary
What Knowledge, Skills & Abilities you bring to the table:
- Degree in Accounting or Finance or currently pursuing a degree
- Knowledge of U.S. GAAP and Internal Controls
- 2 years of accounting experience
- Experience with AP, journal entries and reconciliations
- Experience with QuickBooks Online and Bill.com preferred
- Good Microsoft Excel skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality in all situations
- Ability to interact effectively with management, team members, and peers
- Team player, with ability to work independently
- Experience in technology or startup company a plus
