What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mail Room Clerk position at ApolloMed?

SUMMARY 

The Mailroom Clerk is responsible for sorting all incoming mail for distribution within the company.   Responsible for opening and organizing all incoming mail including sorting and logging of certified mail.    Prepare health care claims for daily pick-up by scanning vendor. Maintain electronic logs relating to assigned duties.  The Mailroom Clerk will also provide support for Mailroom department activities including but not limited to; mailing of provider checks / EOBs and scanning and logging registered mail.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES, include the following: 

  • Sort all daily incoming mail for distribution to designated individuals or department. 
  • Open claim related mail (manually and through use of automated letter opener) and organize by claim type (CMS-1500, UB-04, and variants)
  • Batch claims according to policy and ready claims for daily pick-up by scanning vendor
  • As requested, sort, log and distribute certified mail
  • As requested, ready provider checks and EOBs for mailing
  • As requested, scan and log registered mail and next day mail (USPS, UPS, FedEX) for reference and tracking purposes 
  • Provide support to eClaims for daily reject letter processing when available
  • Other duties as assigned.

  

QUALIFICATIONS  

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. MS Word, Excel, Outlook knowledge and good typing skills of minimum 30 wpm is required. 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 

High School graduate or general education degree (GED); and one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS 

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common documents with specific knowledge of health insurance claim forms (CMS-1500 and UB-04).  Ability to respond to common inquiries.  Ability to effectively present information before co-workers and management.
