About the Role:

Solution Engineers are quota-carrying product and subject matter experts who provide product demonstrations to prospects/customers and enable our sales team with various internal strategy and customer-focused services to help achieve bookings goals. 


The Solution Engineer will partner with Salespeople and work as a trusted advisor by leveraging industry knowledge, competitive insight, and product expertise to position/demonstrate the value of APM and AppFolio’s Artificial Intelligence services, LISA and Smart Maintenance. 


The Solution Engineer role has expanded in 2022 and is a compelling opportunity to learn more about Artificial Intelligence while working closely with Sales, Product & Engineering, and Marketing to help build and drive AppFolio Services to new clients. 


The ideal candidate brings pre-sales and/or product demonstration experience with SaaS applications, has a passion for customer satisfaction, an affinity for details, and possesses a record of independent action. You will drive sales with technical expertise, product knowledge, sales ability, and a superior customer focus.



What You Will Do:

  • Work closely with salespeople in all stages of the sales cycle from discovery to close
  • Provide technical product demonstrations for customers and proof of concepts as needed to show/prove value
  • Be brought in by salespeople as the Product and SME to answer product, compliance and technical questions in sales cycle
  • Partner with salespeople to identify prospects in existing account base and active deals 
  • Training of both new and existing sales team members on AppFolio LISA, Smart Maintenance and APM upgrades
  • Work cross-functionally across product development, engineering, services, and marketing teams to penetrate AppFolio market.
  • Stay current with product updates and trends in Maintenance, Property Management, AI, Leasing and more
  • Participate in customer-facing events such as Trade-Shows and Meet-Ups
  • Travel 10 - 25%


Must Haves: 


  • 2 years of sales, solution consulting/sales engineer, customer service and/or onboarding experience in a B2B SaaS organization
  • Experience providing product software demonstrations in a B2B environment
  • Property Management Industry experience (nice to have)
  • Experience incorporating a sales methodology (Selling Through Curiosity) or a related consultative selling technique.
  • Excellent presentation, communication, time management, and listening skills with proven ability to motivate to buy
  • Competitive possesses an entrepreneurial spirit and is driven to succeed
  • Ability to learn in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to diagnose prospect needs and build relationships through a value-based approach
  • Ability to uncover business requirements, challenges, analyze and deliver solutions to clients
  • Strong experience with Salesforce, PowerPoint, Excel, Zoom or similar, Google Docs
  • Bachelor’s degree
