These facilities grow more with fewer resources. When compared to traditional agriculture, we grow 30x more efficiently and with 90% less water. Located within a day's drive of 70% of the U.S. population, our base in Appalachia allows us to pick our fruits and veggies when they are at peak nutrition and reduce diesel use in transportation by 80%.

About the Role:

As a Greenhouse Supervisor at AppHarvest, you will be joining a team at the forefront of reinventing sustainable agriculture. You will be responsible for supervising Crop Care Specialists and overseeing the quality of their work. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring that they meet applicable food safety standards and comply with good manufacturing practices (GMPs). You will also be responsible for conducting training. Your role is critical to the successful operation of the Greenhouse. You must exhibit strong leadership and mentoring skills.

What You'll Do:

• Supervise a team of Crop Care Specialists and team leaders as they complete their daily duties while promoting a positive work atmosphere and building team spirit.
• Monitor and evaluate employee performance, providing coaching and training as needed to ensure greenhouse productivity, quality and safety standards are met or exceeded.
• Partner with Food and Environmental safety leaders to ensure hygiene, cleanliness, pest, disease, and equipment protocols are adhered to by all team members.
• Maintain a frequent and open dialogue with HR regarding coaching, disciplining, corrective action plans, vacation requests, absenteeism, tardiness, etc. of their team members.
• Make hiring and termination decisions in concert with other decision-makers including Human Resources for employees under your supervision.
• Work with Growers and Ops Managers to execute the labor schedule and proper crop management plan.
• Supervise and execute annual activities such as cleanout, crop-turn, and planting of new crops.

What We're Looking For:

• 2 years' college degree or equivalent work experience preferred
• 5 years' experience leading individuals working on production lines; Successful candidates will have demonstrated the ability to achieve quality standards
• General understanding or ability to be trained on the Priva (Labor Management Software system) or similar
• Training in Food Safety and Sanitation
• Excellent leadership, mentoring, and interpersonal skills; attention to details
• Effective verbal and written communication
• MS Office suite intermediate level proficiency
• Ability to work with/manage 60 team members and make personnel decisions
• Ability to travel up to 20% both domestic and internationally

Working conditions / Physical Requirements:

• Must be comfortable working in temperatures ranging between 80-110 degrees
• Must be comfortable working at heights up to 15 feet
• Ability to stand for a full 8-hour shift on concrete floors
• Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch and bend
• Must be able to work at a steady pace and must be detailed oriented
• Must have a reliable form of transportation
• Open availability to work various work schedules including weekends
• Must be authorized to work in the US
• Must be comfortable working near moving mechanical parts
