What are the responsibilities and job description for the Payroll Clerk / Specialist position at AppleOne?
This position works an alternate 4 / 10 schedule : 10-hour days, off every Friday. Recent Construction payroll experience is a must along with prevailing wage and union payroll processing.
This position is responsible for multi-State payroll which includes ensuring payroll processes and accounting systems work timely and accurately as they relate to payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
Responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
Candidate should have experience with the maintenance of accurate records and reports of payroll transactions, compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
This position participates in audits by providing records and documentation to auditors, and management. Person in this position on occasion will identify and recommend updates to payroll accounting software, systems, and procedures to ensure streamlined process are in place.
Other duties may need to be performed as assigned. Skills required for this role include the extensive knowledge of payroll functions including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
The best candidate for this role will have excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
A team player will be the best fit for this role. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Foundation or other construction payroll software knowledge not required but a plus.
Proficiency in other payroll software’s, Microsoft suite is needed. Bachelor’s / AA degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field preferred but no required.
Minimum of three to five years of related experience required in Construction, public works, or state agencies. Physical Requirements include prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Candidate must be able to lift 25 pounds at times.
