Position Information
Job Summary:
The Hand Finisher removes excess metal and surface defects from parts by performing the following duties.
The role requires the above to be accomplished within Tecomet’s principles of continuous improvement, customer driven innovation and a win first culture, while meeting company financial and other performance metrics.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Selects abrasive belt or wheel according to grain size, type of finish specified, product being polished, or amount of metal to be removed.
- Attaches wheel or belt to drive mechanism.
- Starts polisher and manipulates work piece against abrasive wheel or portable wheel against work piece to remove metal and surface defects.
- Examines part for acceptability of finish in accordance with inspection criteria.
- Maintains housekeeping and safety standards in work area.
- Additional duties as assigned.
- Performs other duties or special projects as required or as assigned by supervisor.
Qualification Requirements
Educational/Training Requirement:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of blueprint reading, and check parts as per print guidelines.
- Use and knowledge of inspection equipment such as calipers, micrometers, height gages, and comparators.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office
- Excellent data entry skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and exercise judgment

Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee could be required to stand.
