Job Overview:
APTIM is seeking a motivated and proactive Project Engineer to join our team of engineering professionals serving our Federal Fueling programs.
Aptim's Federal Fueling programs provide engineering and construction services for aviation and ground products fueling facilities which include bulk storage tanks, fueling piers, pipeline systems, pumphouses, truck loading/offloading terminals, and aircraft direct refueling facilities.
Engineers will apply critical thinking skills to initial planning, procurement support, plan development, design, construction and commissioning phases of projects. Engineers will often work on multiple projects simultaneously and perform other duties as required. This position offers the opportunity to grow professionally while solving problems in the engineering and construction industry. Engineers typically serve the projects in both the field (domestic and international assignments) and the office, as necessary. International locations include Europe, Japan, Guam, Diego Garcia and other Pacific Island locations
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
- Coordinate internally with other execution disciplines and external suppliers both within Company prescribed procedures and by direction from the project manager;
- Be familiar and uphold DoD standards such as UFC 3-460-01, UFC 3-460-03, AW 078-24-27, AW 078-24-28 and UFGS specifications sections.
- Be familiar and uphold industry standards from organizations such as the American Petroleum Institute, National Fire Protection Association, American Society of Mechanical Engineers, American Society of Civil Engineers and the American Concrete Institute.
- Interact with clients, interpreting their needs and requirements, and translating them to field personnel.
- Coordinate and communicate with the project manager and other project participants and collaborate with other engineers to develop a technically sound and cost effective solution to the client's needs while maintaining the project's profitability.
- Review, interpret and edit specifications, drawings and scope of work documents and field data.
- Prepare a variety of technical documents including scopes of work, specifications, drawings, material lists, estimates, calculations, work method procedures and project reports.
- Complete requests for information (RFI), review submittals and select materials for projects.
- Observe and ensure construction practices are compliant with federal, state, and local codes, industry standards, company procedures, and contractual requirements.
- Manage and organize approved required documents and information to support the successful completion of relevant construction activities/requirements.
- Gather productivity data for pipeline install, earthwork, concrete work and other activities to support estimating activities.
Basic Qualifications:
- BS Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited program
- 5 years of engineering work experience with DoD or commercial fuels projects.
- Experience working with USACE, AFCEC, and NAVFAC agencies doing maintenance, repair and design work is preferred.
- Must be a US Citizen and be able to pass a background check to gain access to government facilities
- PE candidates preferred
- Willingness to travel 10-15% of time
- AutoCAD experience preferred
