Job Overview:
We have an immediate opening for a Senior Engineer with our Solid Waste Consulting Services Division to perform a variety of work related to landfills and recycling facilities. The ideal candidate will provide support to projects in all phases. Independently evaluates, selects and uses standards, techniques, procedures and criteria for projects. May also support procurement and field phases or projects with engineering knowledge and field experience. Performs other duties as required.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
- Manage mid-sized to large projects.
- Establish scope, designs, schedules and cost controls consistent with their discipline and compatible with client objectives.
- Collect and interpret engineering data, develop project design, develop specifications, grading plans, stormwater management plans, and performs detailed technical analysis of complex project issues.
- Developing work with existing and new clients.
- Preparing proposals and cost estimates.
- Review, modify, approve and PE stamp drawings and reports.
- Coordinate and oversee subcontractors.
- Provide field inspection.
- Manage project budgets.
- Ensure conformance to applicable engineering codes and standards as well as company policies and procedures.
- Familiar with Solid Waste Facility Permits.
- Familiar with stormwater management plans.
- Communicating with Regulatory Agencies.
- Preparing Landfill Closure and Expansion Plans, Construction Estimates and Permit Applications.
Basic Qualifications:
- Has a BS or higher in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or related field with 7 years of relative Solid Waste experience.
- Has a Professional License in Engineering.
- Can manage a team of engineers and scientists toward common goals and deadlines.
- Has knowledge of Federal and State Regulations and permit applications, and has a good working relationship with governmental agencies.
- Is proficient in writing high-quality technical reports and proposals.
- Proficient in preparing defendable plans, specifications, CQA plans to minimize change orders.
- Capable of prioritizing and managing multiple deadlines and deliverables.
- Experience in construction oversight, processing requests for payment, responding to requests for information, and reviewing requests for change orders a plus.
- Monitors and controls costs within own work.
- Manages own time to meet agreed targets and develops plans for short-term work activities in own area.
- Experience with one or more of the following computer programs: AutoCAD civil 3D, HEC-HMS, Slide, HydroCAD, and similar.
