Job Summary
Aptive Resources, a leading provider of medical solutions, is seeking a dedicated Medical Supply Technician to join our team at the VA Health System in Cheyenne WY. As a Medical Supply Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the functionality, sterility, and availability of medical equipment and supplies essential for patient care.
Primary Responsibilities
- Process, assemble, troubleshoot, prepare, sterilize, store, and issue sterile and unsterile medical supplies and equipment in accordance with established procedures and guidelines.
- Maintain and repair a wide range of medical equipment, from simple devices like blood pressure cuffs to complex machines, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
- Possess in-depth knowledge of the technical names, general uses, physical characteristics, and operating conditions of medical supply items.
- Demonstrate proficiency in decontamination, cleaning, preparation, sterilization, and storage procedures to uphold stringent hygiene standards.
- Employ aseptic techniques to prevent contamination and maintain the integrity of medical supplies and equipment.
- Operate various sterilization equipment including washer-sterilizers, ultrasonic instrument cleaners, and gas and steam sterilizers with precision and efficiency.
Minimum Qualifications
- Proven experience in processing, assembling, troubleshooting, preparing, sterilizing, storing, and issuing medical supplies and equipment, preferably in a hospital or medical facility setting.
- Knowledge of medical supply processing, storage, and distribution procedures acquired through 2 years of relevant study, including at least 12 semester hours in related courses such as sterile supplies, operating room, surgical technician courses, or other relevant fields.
- Familiarity with aseptic techniques and infection control protocols.
- Ability to operate and maintain sterilization equipment effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and adherence to standard operating procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals and other team members.
