Join our team and make a difference! We are hiring for our Meter Operations Supervisor to join our team on a full-time, direct basis! This person will manage / direct employees on the installation, maintenance, and reading of the Company’s residential & commercial metering systems throughout NC. This person also manages Aqua North Carolina’s Cross Connection Control Program, Sewer Service Audit Program, Leak Detection Notification Program, and Utility Locate Program. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Supervise Meter Operations activities, including the scheduling of monthly readings of meters as well as the installation, servicing, and testing of all meters (5/8” through 10”). Interview, hire, set performance standards, and manage performance in accordance with all applicable HR policies & procedures in order to creates an energized work environment that fosters an atmosphere that enables employee trust & engagement; this includes inspiring confidence and motivating others to perform at their best, as well as developing / coaching staff while effectively addressing performance issues. Oversee and ensure high customer service levels are maintained by the field team in accordance with Company objectives. Work closely with local divisions, ACO, Legal, New Business, Cross Connection Control, and Technical Services to assist with appointment scheduling, service order generation, account inquiries / trouble shooting, order status updates, and cancellations. Coordinate with New Business Inspectors to ensure the timely installation of new services and completion of renovations and/or repairs on existing services. Schedule, train, and supervise field service personnel while ensuring that Aqua’s safety policies & procedures are followed. Monitor the activities of contracted Installers, Meter Readers, and Utility Location vendors; this includes ensuring that project-specific activities, deliverables, and timelines are followed; this also involves addressing all account and/or customer-related issues, reviewing SOP’s & training requirements, and the transfer of materials & inventory. Resolve elevated issues and concerns; this involves investigating accounts, trouble-shooting systems issues, and investigating service orders (as needed). Support the purpose and policy of the Company’s Cross Connection Control requirements in accordance with federal and state Safe Drinking Water Act regulations. Manage ancillary programs, including the Sewer Service Audit Program, the Leak Detection Notification Program, and the Utility Locate Program. Perform other related activities, as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma (or equivalent) is required; Bachelor's degree is preferred. Completion of college coursework in Engineering, Environmental Science, Construction Management, Business Management, or a related field is preferred. 3 years of professional experience working in water utility system operations. ASSE Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester Certification is required (we will consider candidates with the ability to achieve it within 24 months of job acceptance). A Valid U.S. Driver's License. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Strong organizational and leadership skills are essential with the ability to manage multiple people and priorities simultaneously. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively conduct business with internal & external customers, contractors, utility companies, and government authorities (Municipal, County, & State); this person will be expected to represent our Company with a professional presence. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications as well as other business-oriented computer programs; this person will receive training to utilize Aqua’s Customer Information System (Banner), SAP, Qlik, AMRA, and ASOA to resolve escalated issues & problems. Must be able to articulate technical information (from GIS plans, plates and tap cards) to field personnel. A Team Player demeanor with the ability to work effectively and multi-task in a team-fostered environment. WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL DEMANDS: May be subject to extreme temperatures, noise, wet and/or humid conditions, mechanical, electrical, gas exposure hazards, fumes, dusts, mists, gases and /or poor ventilation atmospheric conditions. Working conditions may include travel to work sites of Essential Utilities and/or other constituents (if applicable). Will be expected to serve On-Call during emergency events.
