Responsibilities
- Prepare and oversee the preparation and filing of c-corp 1120 federal, state, and local income returns for the company and other affiliated entities.
- Assist with income tax provision compliance and financial statements audit to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
- Prepare and review state modification and apportionment schedules.
- Maintain tax basis depreciation records and intangible asset schedules.
- Prepare and review quarterly tax estimates and year-end projections.
- Analyze and reconcile various tax-related general ledger accounts: deferred tax balances, income tax expense, and federal and state tax payable accounts.
- Manage and assist with federal, state income, and franchise tax audits.
- Manage state tax controversy matters including notices and adjustments.
- Coordinate, prepare, and oversee annual reports filings.
- Research and maintain a working knowledge of state income/franchise tax developments.
- Maintain federal, state, and local tax calendar.
- Manage relationships with external tax consultants and provide guidance on the implementation of various tax planning strategies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field. Master’s degree in Tax preferred.
- CPA certification or CPA eligible preferred.
- 5 years of relevant experience in corporate income tax with a focus on compliance.
- Intermediate/advanced skills with Microsoft Excel and Word.
