Supply Operator - Union
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES & ACTIVITIES:
The primary responsibilities of this position involve:
- Performs distribution and customer service functions, including, but not limited to:
o Installing, removing and testing water meters
o Operating and maintaining service line valves
o Operating and maintaining distribution and transmission valves
o Delivery of shut off, door hangers and other customer notices
o Repairing main breaks and service line leaks
o Conducting line locations and marking
o Performing backflow preventer tests and cross connection surveys (with appropriate certifications)
o Operating and maintaining fire hydrants
o Performing flushing operations
o Performing leak surveys and investigations
o Performing grounds and building maintenance, such as yard work, cleaning, painting and general repairs
o Assisting contractors in capital and maintenance activities
- Performs Supply and Production duties, including, but not limited to:
o Performing maintenance on wells, pumps, chemical feed and storage equipment, tanks, pressure control valves, and other supply and production equipment
o Collecting water quality samples
o Performing water quality tests
o Performing water quality complaint investigations
o Assisting contractors in capital and maintenance activities
KNOW HOW (Education, Experience, Certification required, etc.)
- Three years or more of water utility operations and maintenance experience.
- The applicant must be a high school or vocational school graduate or have an equivalent GED. Applicants must possess and maintain valid New Hampshire Class I water treatment and distribution licenses within 3 years of appointment.
- Applicant must hold a valid motor vehicle operators license at the time of appointment; literate in English; and have aptitude for effective use of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and SAP.
- Applicant must be in good physical condition and be capable of lifting 50-lbs and able to work in spaces that require the ability to crawl, climb and contort.
- This position works a regular eight (8) hour shift and additional overtime as required.
- Applicant must have the necessary mechanical and basic skills which are required to fulfill this position.
PROBLEM SOLVING: Situations are routine in nature, recurring and variable.
ACCOUNTABILITY: Accountable to the Operations Manager for the completion and accuracy of assigned tasks.
