Accountant

Job Summary:

Broad accounting and finance responsibilities including the financial closing process, accounts payable process, payroll process as well as reporting and finance projects. Works with the finance team to provide accounting services in an effective and efficient manner and while identifying ways to improve operations.

Responsibilities:

• Accounts Payable
  • Coordinates, validates, and inputs invoices using accounting systems
  • Builds and maintains effective relationships with vendors
  • Organizes and maintains vendor files and ensures vendor statements are accurate and reconciles any missing invoices/discrepancies
  • Prepares disbursements by setting up online banking payments for approval and corresponding manual payment batches
• Expense Reports
  • Pays and reviews expense reports on a routine basis
  • Oversees interface of expenses from Concur system into General Ledger
  • Approval and payment of expense reports
• Assists in monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close, including the following:
  • Prepares and enters journal entries
  • Prepares balance sheet reconciliations
  • Prepares ad hoc financial reports, charts, tables and assist in analysis of results
  • Ensures compliance with internal control policies and procedures
• Internal Controls
  • Ensures SOX compliance including enforcing of key controls and adherence to the approved policies/procedures for the areas assigned
  • Assists in SOX compliance audits
  • Maintains proper documentation and assists in testing of key controls and timely remediation of identified deficiencies
  • Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease process times, streamline work processes; works collaboratively with the business, and leverages technology
• Other Projects
  • Serves as a back-up for payroll coordinator within the department
  • Assists with various special projects including finance systems, technologies, and business process improvements including the design, testing and implementation of new technology and other accounting enhancements/tools as needed
  • Completes ad hoc projects as assigned

Qualifications:

• A./B.S. in accounting or finance required.
• Minimum 1-3 years of financial experience in relevant financial roles.
• Pharma/biotech related, publicly traded Company financial experience preferred.
• Experience and proficiency with Office 365 (Excel, Word, etc.); ERP systems a plus.
• Ability to build relationships and work effectively in a fast-paced organization.
• Strong character and ethics; attention to detail and ability to self-prioritize work on an ongoing basis.
• Outstanding relationship building and communication skills, including ability to navigate throughout organizations and with individuals at all levels.
• Ability to establish effective, sustainable, trust-based relationships.
• High customer-service orientation.
• Strong finance and accounting skills, with a focus on accounting process.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Able to work with deadlines, multi-task, and provide actionable recommendations.
