Aquinas Consulting is actively looking to fill a new HVAC Technician job. In this role, you will be responsible for a wide variety of skilled tasks involved in the maintenance and repair of heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment throughout the facility. All tasks must be performed safely, in accordance with experience, training, instructions and guidance from the maintenance supervisor or designee. This position performs duties with minimal supervision.
HVAC Technician Job Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, repair and monitor building operation systems, including plumbing, heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance and inspections on building HVAC equipment and systems. This is completed by following guidelines and as industry experience deems necessary (daily factory walkthrough, filter changes, belt changes and tension checks, lubrication and oil changes, monitor refrigerant lines, inspect and clean refrigerant coils, electrical checks on motors, sensors, relays, fuses, etc.)
- Submit requisitions for parts/equipment as needed.
- Monitor and maintain computerized and mechanical building management systems in multiple buildings, production lines and offices.
- Maintain work logs, charts, temperature logs and preventive maintenance records.
- Assist in developing preventive maintenance programs for all equipment.
- Troubleshoot HVAC equipment or systems to locate or diagnose cause of trouble and make necessary repairs. Includes assuming future malfunctions and repairing in a way to prevent future malfunctions. Repairs include: Electrical Component replacement, Motor replacements, brazing and soldering refrigerant, plumbing and steam systems, refrigerant recovery, calibrations, replacement and repair of duct systems.
- Follow all refrigerant and gas codes and other recognized policies/procedures, techniques and safety precautions in the performance of duties.
- Safely operates various hand and power tools and powered industrial equipment such as fork lifts, aerial lifts and pallet jacks.
- Proficient in use of Building Management System to monitor HVAC system performance and compliance with space environmental specifications. Uses software to provide preliminary diagnosis of problems with system operation to reduce labor for repair activities.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalency required.
- Completion of HVAC technical training certificate program.
- Candidates should have at least 3-5 years of experience, 2- 4 years of journeyman experience in heating and air-conditioning, 1-2 of which were spent in commercial or industrial HVAC.
- Possession of an EPA Section 608 CFC Refrigerant Universal certification required.
- Experience in nitrogen testing, refrigerant recovery, vacuum preparation and refrigerant charging, including EPA recordkeeping requirements.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision; self-directed with high level of initiative and strong work ethic required.
- Ability to read and understand maintenance manuals, work instructions and blueprints.
- Possess the ability to react to changes of responsibility throughout the day. Must have the flexibility to respond to multiple assignments.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written and oral instructions.
- Math skills to include addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent.
- Must be willing to work on whatever shift they are needed, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to speak, read and write English fluently.
- Computer skills, including familiarization with Microsoft Office, is strongly preferred.
- Must be computer literate to facilitate information search and operation of Building Management System to monitor HVAC system performance and diagnosis of system malfunctions
