What are the responsibilities and job description for the Climbing Wall Attendant position at Arapahoe Park & Rec?
SUMMARY
Under the direct supervision of the Athletics Coordinator, the Climbing Wall Attendant will be responsible for overseeing the safety, service, documentation, facility/area upkeep for youth and adult climbing programs and climbing wall birthday parties and providing an enjoyable and educational experience for participants of all ages.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be 16 years of age
- Customer service oriented and possess the ability to work with all populations in a positive manner
- Ability to follow strict policies and regulations to ensure safety of participants and staff
- Ability to obtain CPR/First Aid certification within 90 days after hire date
- Ability to work flexible hours, which may include evenings, mornings, weekends and holidays
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous climbing experience
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide a welcoming environment for all participants and patrons
- Responsible for ensuring a safe and fun climbing experience while exercising a high degree of discretion, trust and confidence to properly execute duties efficiently
- Maintain safe climbing conditions in climbing area including, but not limited to ensuring waiver and consent completion, properly fit participants in harness and cleanliness of wall and surrounding area.
- Assist with routine maintenance of wall as requested by Athletics Coordinator
- Communicate, explain and enforce climbing wall safety rules and facility regulations
- Report unsafe conditions to Athletics Coordinator or Manager on Duty immediately
- Respond to patron needs; handle complaints in a courteous, professional and patient manner
- Follow all Arapahoe Park and Recreation District’s policies and procedures
- Set up and tear down necessary equipment before and after program
- Lead Climbing Wall Birthday Parties
- Establishes and maintains a working environment conducive to positive morale and teamwork.
- Must maintain a positive and respectful attitude while engaged in stressful and/or controversial situations with patrons and co-workers
- Dress and appearance are consistent with Athletics department standards including uniform requirements and personal hygiene.
- Follow all Arapahoe Park and Recreation District's policies and procedures
- Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS, ABILITIES
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all staff and general public
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Possess skills to maintain a safe environment, as well as performing quality work
- Reliable transportation or a means to making it to work shifts on time
- Ability to understand, comprehend, and follow all policies and procedures as well as verbalized and written instructions directed by management
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & ENVIRONMENT:
- Ability to move about the building, grounds in a relatively quick manner
- May require long periods of standing
- Ability to stand, reach, climb and kneel
- Ability to talk and/or hear managers, co-workers and general public
- Ability to lift, carry, transport athletic equipment, benches, tables and chairs or other objects up to 50 lbs. assisted
- Ability to see objects closely and at a distance
- Ability to deal with moderate to high stress situations at times and maintain a positive attitude.

Salary Range: $14-$18/hr
