What are the responsibilities and job description for the IT Manager position at Arbella Insurance Group?
Key Responsibilities:
Be a strong IT partner for the Personal Lines organization who advocates for them within the IT organization and is seen as trusted IT advisor by the Personal Lines business unit
Set short and long-term goals and objectives for the MA Personal Lines IT organization; plan, organize and lead the work necessary to achieve business results
Invest in and develop members of the MA Personal Lines IT team through successful selection of candidates, coaching and development of employees, and strong performance management of Software Developers, Business Analysts and Team Managers.
Effectively manage a portfolio of systems development projects, application enhancements and upgrades to ensure that IT delivers on commitments to the Arbella MA Personal Lines Product, Underwriting and Operations units as well as the broader Arbella organization
Manage production support for the MA applications and ensure that MA applications meet or exceed SLA commitments, placing a premium on uptime and performance. Effectively guide incident resolution, problem management, maintenance, and enhancement issues raised by end users of the MA applications
Drive operational excellence through simplification, standardization, and measurement. Instill a strong team focus on continuously improving processes, workflow, and operations.
Continually seeks ways to drive innovation both within and outside of the MA Personal Lines IT team.
Define and maintain roadmaps and long-range plans for strategic business initiatives and applications
Build a working knowledge of the platform of applications supporting the MA Personal Lines organization.
Build and maintain effective relationships with peers in the IT Management team. Build effective working relationships beyond the Personal Lines IT team, both inside and outside of the IT organization.
Propose and effectively manage budgets that are in line with IT objectives
Practice strong portfolio and resource management using appropriate Arbella IT tools.
Contract and vendor management for external parties working to support MA portfolio.
Key Requirements :
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field and 5 years of experience.
Proven experience with performance management including hiring and development of staff.
Strong experience leading in customer facing, service driven roles.
Demonstrated experience delivering successful, complex software delivery initiatives on time and on budget.
Experience managing IT budgets and forecasts with participation in annual planning processes.
Demonstrated experience implementing processes and systems that drive consistent execution on customer deliverables.
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Excellent negotiation, collaboration, facilitation, and conflict resolution skills.
Experience with contract and vendor management.
Desired Qualifications:
Experience working at a Property & Casualty Insurance company as well as experience with Application Development and Support management is desired.
Personal Lines Policy Administrative and Agent portal solutions experience is a plus.
Experience using the Agile, Lean, or similar methodologies to drive improved execution is desired.
Experience using Planview or similar portfolio & resource management tools is desired.
Experience with Mainframe Technologies (COBOL/IMS/DB2) and distributed systems (HTML/JavaScript/Java/XML/Spring Boot/ETL/SQL/Cloud hosting).
