We, at Arbor Family Medicine, can assist a handful of candidates who are dedicated to enter this profession to obtain a national recognized certification as a Medical Assistant.
What does a Medical Assistant do?
A Medical Assistant (MA) is a healthcare assistant who works in outpatient facilities. The MAs provide clinical support and work directly with the healthcare provider. An MA's duties include (but are not limited to), patient intake, rooming patients, taking vital signs, performing injections, drawing patient’s blood, and assisting with minor surgical procedures.
What is a Medical Assistant Apprenticeship?
An apprenticeship is an “earn while you learn” training model. While you are enrolled as a Front Range Community College student to obtain a certificate as a Medical Assistant, you are employed and paid by Arbor Family Medicine. Some benefits include the following:
- No previous healthcare experience required but must have completed High School or equivalent.
- Paid employment, plus pay increase at designated points.
- 401K, which includes matching when eligible.
- Structural learning on the job with guided preceptor support.
- Earn college credit while earning a Medical Assistant certificate through FRCC.
- The condensed model is just 20 weeks of related instructions with the potential for long-term employment.
- Strong support from FRCC and Arbor Family Medicine.
- Earn a national industry credential as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA)
- Starting wage is 18/hr. with full benefits after the grace period (within 60-90 days after hire)

Qualified candidates should be able to demonstrate the following:
- Commitment to improve the experience and delivery of care for patients.
- Be able to manage time well to navigate a large courseload (online and in-person) while being employed.
- Strong written and oral communication, interpersonal skills, and cultural competency.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, organization skills, and attention to detail.
- Demonstrates flexibility and can effectively manage multiple demands concurrently with ease.
- High level of discretion, integrity, and adherence to HIPAA standards.
- Basic computer skills and accuracy in spelling.
Qualified Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent certificate.
Qualified candidate(s) will be interviewed through July 2024 at Arbor. If hired, candidate(s) will register through FRCC for the Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Program to start their education in August of 2024.
