Job Description – Chemical Operator
Job Type: Full-time
Schedule: Rotating 12-hour shift. Working every other weekend.
1 opening on night shift (4:45PM to 5:15AM)
Hourly rate: $20 (Depending on experience)
Note: The Production Team has a clean shaven face policy due to the respirator program. All Production employees must have clean shaven face in order to properly wear a respirator.
Job Summary:
Prepare, operate, and adjust process and process support equipment to maintain required product quality and quantity of production. Operate and maintain basic chemical process equipment. Perform all operations in accordance with applicable safety policies.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
· Unload/load crude sterol and tall oil neutral tankers.
· Perform the duties of “Operator of Record” for designated process equipment and systems.
· Operate and maintain process and process support equipment as directed by company policies and procedures.
· Immediately notify team lead/ manager of equipment deficiencies, unsafe conditions, or inability to follow SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) instructions.
· Thoroughly understand and comply with job requirements including company policies, SOP’s, and safe work practices.
· Document equipment and process operations. Meet corporate record keeping requirements.
· Communicate the status of operating equipment and systems to a relieving “Operator of Record.”
· Maintain process equipment in a clean and safe working condition.
· Recommend equipment or procedural upgrades to improve process efficiency or enhance safety.
· Organize work to attain production goals.
· Immediately inform supervisor when unable to meet production requirements.
Secondary Job Responsibilities:
· Performs other duties as assigned by team lead or manager.
· Assist fellow operators as time permits.
· Respond to incidental spills in the role of First Responder Operations Level.
· Stop operations any time an unsafe condition exists, (for both safety and environment), the quality of the product is in question, or the equipment would be adversely affected by continued use.
· Assist in training new employees.
Job and Education Requirements:
· High School Diploma / GED
· Manufacturing experience
· Be highly motivated and possess the ability to work both independently and in a group with a positive attitude.
· Possess good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
· Possess good interpersonal skills in communication, listening, and good safety practices.
· Ability to lift 50 pounds, climb ladders, work from heights, and to work outside during all seasons.
· Basic skills with Microsoft Word and Excel.
· Ability to work 12-hours shifts.
· Must be able to pass a 10-panel drug screening test after an offer is made
Preferred Qualifications:
· Available to work overtime and cover vacations as needed.
· Knowledge of Process Safety Management
· Knowledge of Energy Control/Lock Out Tag Out
· Willingness to learn new skills to advance.
