We are currently hiring Job Coaches to join our team at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot. You will be supporting a small group (usually 1:3 ratio) of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities at their work site. This is a food service operation on a military base where you and your team will be serving food, washing dishes, and cleaning the mess hall.

A typical day will include:
Providing culturally appropriate direct support to individuals using person-centered approaches and strategies including:
- Ensuring completion of work tasks as required by the employer and/or established procedures
- Providing on-going training to participants throughout the workday as needed
Communicating effectively and professionally with employer and other employees at the work site
Demonstrating appropriate work behaviors at all times
Completion of electronic documentation prior to end of shifts
What you’ll need to be successful:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Valid CA Driver’s License with clean driving record
- Immediate access to vehicle with working seatbelts to transport participants
- Comfort driving a full size van with multiple passengers
- Ability to lift 50 lbs and move up to 75 lbs
- High comfort in using multiple computer /mobile device programs
- Ability to translate employer needs to individuals with disabilities
- Willingness to adhere to dress and appearance standards
- Comfort working at a high volume military site
We’d love it if you:
- Had 6 or more months of prior hands-on experience with persons with intellectual or developmental disabilities
- Are multi-lingual (English, Spanish, Tagalog)
- Have experience with electronic case management systems (Therap)
- Have experience with individual service plans (goal development)
- Were experienced and comfortable in handling the duties you will be teaching and supporting (food service, janitorial as examples)
