Role description:

This individual will provide analytical and consulting support related to the planning, design, and construction of physical infrastructure in urban environments.

Role accountabilities:

  • Provide support in the collection, analysis, and interpretation of geographic, economic, legislative and land use data for use in the planning, design, and construction of physical infrastructure in urban environments.
  • Provide advice and guidance on feasibility of proposals based on market research, land use policies, environmental considerations, and expertise in planning and geographical principles.
  • Leverage industry software such as GIS for the design and analysis of core geospatial information (centerlines, routes, and calibration points) and event datasets tied to geographic theories (such as Linear Referencing Systems).
  • Integrate external geographic and geologic data (surface and subsurface) into the LRS network.
  • Assist in developing visualizations, analytical tools and reports to support construction projects in urban environments.
  • Maintain good communication with engineering and design team members and personnel to optimize work programs, data collection and the transfer and dissemination of geographic and urban planning work products.
  • Ensure all relevant data are curated and stored in a consistent and efficient manner.
  • Maintain planning files and documents to ensure they are accurate and up to date.
  • Stay current on zoning and building codes, environmental regulations, and other legal issues
  • Demonstrate progressive and analytical problem-solving skills.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Economics, Geography, Earth Science or equivalent.
  • Understanding of planning principles, land development, approval processes, relevant legislation, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software.
  • 3 years’ experience in an analytical position.
  • Knowledge of geoscience data management best practices in the context of urban planning and in the context of physical infrastructure development.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Proficient computer skills, with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (PowerPoint, Word, Excel) and ability to learn new software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for complex reports and presentations.
  • Detail-oriented, and a team player with good interpersonal communication, analytical, organization, and time management skills.
