Overview
Under the supervisiorn of Clinical Nutrition manager and Foodservice Director, enhances nutritional care for residents by assisting the therapeutic dietitian and performing routine duties in the therapeutic area of the Dietary Department. Supervises, evaluates & maintains menu management system. Visits all residents and follows up on food preferences as needed (sometimes daily, but every quarter at a minimum). Other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
• Resident Care : Provides limited diet counseling to residents and their families as directed by the therapeutic dietitian.• Assists therapeutic dietitian in interviewing residents to obtain food preferences, intolerance, allergies, and nutritionally related problems.• Visits residents during meal service to observe intake and satisfaction with meals. Reports any findings regarding resident poor food intake to dietitian.• Informs the dietitian of residents who need special attention.• Acts as a liaison between nursing and dietary for communication and production purposes regarding diet instructions• Clerical : Performs routine office duties as it relates to therapeutic services.• Informs Maintenance Department of equipment repairs. Notifies food service of same.• Updates resident census daily including new admissions, discharge , and diet changes according to floor census sheet.• Answers telephone and attends to messages accordingly if assigned.• Updates daily nourishment's and oral supplement labels to be used by diet aides for preparation and distribution.• Keeps quality assurance records under the direction of the clinical dietary staff and /or Food Service Supervisors.• Supervisory: Supervises the assembly of resident trays and checks for compliance with selective menu and diet cards.• Supervises food service workers in maintaining a safe and sanitary work environment, according to established standards.• Responsible and cooperative with supervisors, fellow employees, resident and families.• Maintains friendly working atmosphere.• Maintains professional attitude• Maintains professional appearance.• Organizational Responsibilities: Provides assistance with resident care where applicable.• Promotes the organizations and departments image , philosophy and policies.• Follows organizational and departmental policies and procedures.• Reports any accidents and dangerous situations immediately.• Maintains confidentiality or organizational and resident information.• Performs other related duties as assigned.Qualifications
4 year nutrition degree in lieu of DTR acceptable.
