Job Description
The substitute teacher is responsible for delivering lesson plans in the absence of the classroom teacher and maintaining a safe, orderly, and secure learning environment for all students. The substitute performs teaching duties and all other duties as assigned by administration.
Certification and Qualifications
- Proper licensure from the Colorado Department of Education is preferred. Acceptable licenses are three-year substitute authorization, Initial or Professional Teaching License or a Five-Year Substitute Authorization.
- Pass a Background Check
- Complete Safe Environment Training through the Archdiocese of Denver
Competencies and Expectations
- Effective supervisory skills;
- Works with all staff members, faculty and administration in a cooperative and supportive manner
- Preferred: be a fully initiated Catholic in the communion of the Catholic Church and intentionally living out the five precepts of the Church (CCC 20412043);
- Background and training in education methods, subject areas and developmental planes of development specific to age group of class
- Appropriate control and discipline techniques to successfully manage a classroom;
- Sound judgment and decision making skills;
- Knowledge of and willingness to implement safety and emergency procedures;
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Requires lifting up to 40 pounds and carrying up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to execute appropriate safety and emergency procedures, including leading evacuations and providing basic first aid.
