Reports to: Shop Manager

Overview:

Applies more advanced skills and welding processes to join, surface, fabricate or repair parts of metal or other wieldable materials. Consistently meets or exceeds production, quality and safety requirements for assignments with less supervision.

Essential Duties:

  • Perform duties in fabrication and securing of brackets, filter housings and non-code components.
  • Measure and fabricate water and/or exhaust piping of different thicknesses, in position or on stands.
  • Pride of workmanship in quality output.
  • Ability to problem solve for design of fabrication in order to meet the needs of the components assigned.
  • Scrubber mist pad removal, repair and reinstallation.
  • Process pipe fabrication and repair.
  • Weld brackets and braces and use grinders


Non-Essential Duties: Performs other duties as assigned.

All employees shall be in compliance with the Archrock Health Safety and Environmental Policy and local, statutory and/or regulatory requirements at all times.

Skills and Abilities:

Ability to:

  • Perform all essential duties.
  • Use metal core mig, tig, fluxcore, Sub-arc or stick welding process. Must pass 6G test required with NDT and X-ray.
  • Independently fit up pipe, flanges, etc.
  • Perform quality x-ray and ultrasound test welds with minimum rework.
  • Read and manufacture from ISO drawings.
  • Advanced knowledge of cutting equipment including flame and plasma cutting as well as a gouger.
  • Comply with all applicable safety and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Work with the team in developing improved work processes for the department.
  • Position pieces to be welded into jigs, holding fixtures, guides, and steps using measuring instruments and hand tools.
  • Working knowledge of using an Aluminum spool gun for common repair of compression components.
  • Perform position welds on code materials.
  • Read and understand blueprints.


Knowledge:

  • Advanced knowledge of metal core mig, tig, fluxcore, or stick welding process.
  • Advanced knowledge of different types and sizes of pipe, structural, and vessel materials.
  • Advanced knowledge of flame and plasma cutting torches and beveling machines.


Minimum Education and Certification:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Welding training or equivalent on-the-job-training preferred.
  • Pipe or plate welding certification if required in assigned facility.
  • Must provide own welding hood, chipping hammer, and wire cutting pliers
  • Pipe or plate welding certification if required in assigned facility.


Minimum Experience:

  • Typically 3 years related experience and/or training.


Leadership:

  • Expected to serve as a resource to others for knowledge transfer, training and checking work.
  • May occasionally lead a team.

  • Must be fit for duty for the job tasks being performed.
  • Must meet the medical requirements necessary to wear PPE required by role (includes respiratory protection medical requirements as required by role).
  • Constantly required to stand, display good manual dexterity and to reach with hands and arms.
  • Frequently required to talk and hear.
  • Frequently required to walk with good balance.
  • Regularly required to lift, move and carry up to 50 pounds and to push and pull up to 90 pounds.
  • Occasionally required to stoop, twist, kneel, and squat.
  • Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

  • Resolves majority of the troubleshooting issues with no help
  • Provides solutions to a diverse scope and range of complex problems where analysis of information requires evaluation, new approaches, planning and resourcefulness.
  • Expected to regularly identify opportunities and to provide ideas, methods and innovations to enhance teamwork, individual development, efficiency and quality.

  • Actions and decisions impact operational, and financial results on assigned equipment.
  • Typically resolves problems in a timely manner.
  • Enhanced skills will most likely result in fewer scheduled delays or decreased costs.
  • Accountable for HSE, service quality, and customer satisfaction.
