JOB SUMMARY: The System Administrator is a highly skilled Tier 3 technical resource that thrives on supporting diverse networks while providing excellent customer service.  The System Administrator is responsible for providing proactive and reactive services to clients in support of their IT infrastructure.  This position is responsible for receiving information, diagnosing symptoms, and resolving problems.  The System Administrator will need to deliver customer service within specified service levels and typically around more complex problems.  This scope could include diagnosis and resolution of items such as router configurations, equipment failures, patching or updating server operating systems, restarting services, troubleshooting backups, and more. This role will provide guidance on advanced technical topics to lower tier support resources.  The System Administrator will be required to be a Subject Matter Expert in specific defined areas as needed to meet client service delivery needs.  This is a non-managerial position.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  

  • Troubleshoot advanced complexity workstation and server-based software and hardware issues with: 
  • Microsoft supported Windows Operating systems 
  • Microsoft supported Office/O365 
  • Adobe 
  • Apple Mac supported Operating systems (workstations) 
  • Sophos and other major AV brands 
  • Component failure and pending failure behavior 
  • Failed startup beep codes 
  • Computer event logs and 3rd party alerting tools 
  • Local and network printers, as well as other peripherals such as keyboards and monitors 
  • Build servers under minimal supervision to appropriate firm standards 
  • Configure and deploy routers, switches, wireless access points 
  • Add users and join workstations to a domain and assign permissions per procedures 
  • Apply advanced troubleshooting to server-based software issues with: 
  • Cloud Services 
  • Microsoft Supported Windows Server  
  • Microsoft Supported Exchange 
  • Microsoft Supported SQL Server  
  • Microsoft Supported Terminal Server and Remote Desktop Services  
  • Backup solutions including Barracuda, Veeam, Backup Exec and others 
  • Drive communication with vendors for RMA and troubleshooting purposes 
  • Leverage in depth knowledge of workstation/server hardware and software troubleshooting abilities 
  • Create and maintain client documentation consisting of the following: 
  • Site maps/audits 
  • User lists 
  • Password lists 
  • Third party software install guides 
  • IP scheme 
  • Exceptions 
  • Server checklist 
  • Deployment documents 
  • Backup reviews and timelines 
  • Network diagrams 
  • Possess knowledge of various server/workstation peripherals such as USB/NAS drives 
  • Identify when technical and support related items are aged and escalate to the correct team members and/or external vendors for resolution 
  • Establish best practices and standards and assist with internal documentation and processes 
  • Perform site visits to clients for field work, scheduled maintenance visits, ArcticCare Health Assessment and T&M service requests 
  • Assists with on-boarding projects and various other infrastructure projects as needed 
  • Limited tool administration in assigned specialties 
  • Analyze security reports, recommend and execute remediation, and assist account managers in delivery 
  • Accurately enter and maintain ticket information including notes and resolution 
  • Contribute to team goals such as:  SLA requirements, resolution, and client satisfaction 
  • Actively participates as a member of the AIT team; works well with co-workers and all levels of management 
  • Adheres to work group and company polices outlined in Team Member handbook, electronic communication, and other documentation 
  • Submits timesheets accurately and timely 
  • Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • High school diploma required; college degree preferred 
  • 4 years of relevant experience in supporting complex networks and/or providing technical support or combination of experience and education 
  • MCP/MCSA/MCSE/MCTS/MCITP Certifications are preferred, but not required 
  • CompTIA A and Network are preferred, but not required 
  • Knowledge of MS Dynamics365 a plus 
  • Ability to shift schedule for evening or weekend work occasionally 
  • Applicants subject to government security investigations and must meet eligibility requirements related to the clearance process 
  • Pass background checks as needed 
  • Valid driver’s license, personal auto insurance and reliable personal vehicle 
  • Ability to travel to client sites as needed, leveraging personal vehicle for local dispatch 
  • Personal cell phone  

 

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:  The majority of work for this role is performed in a home office and interacts with a wide variety of people with differing functions, personalities, and abilities. Telecommuters are expected to have sufficient home office space that appears neat, organized, and professional when on video meetings. Travel may be required.
