Brief Summary:
The Purchasing Technician performs moderately complex purchasing assignments in accordance with ASNA/SSMH policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Two to four years of related experience or equivalent combination of experience and training.
Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Perform a volume of numerical detail work with speed and accuracy.
- Make mathematical computations with and without mechanical assistance.
- Prepare financial and other records in a systematic, neat, and legible manner.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the general public.
- Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
- Carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; solve practical problems.
Essential Job Functions
- Generates purchase requisitions for supplies, general office equipment, services and special purchases.
- Reviews purchase requisitions submitted by other departments and assists other departments in vendor selection and preparation of purchase requisitions.
- Creates purchase orders for transmittal to vendors, and maintains open purchase order log and files.
- Matches vendor invoices with purchase orders and receiving documents and prepares check requests; resolves vendor billing discrepancies.
- Completes credit applications for new vendors and maintains vendor files.
- Coordinates with the Materials Management Manager to ensure that new property is tagged and surplus is disposed of or replaced.
- Processes and maintains ASNA Blanket Purchase Orders, Service Agreements, and
- Yearly Standing Orders for all departments.
- Follows and administers ASNA Acquisition/Procurement policies and procedures.
