Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer to work onsite in San Diego, CA. In this role, you will be part of the development team responsible for deploying, managing, sustaining and troubleshooting complex Splunk Enterprise environments. You will utilize Splunk Deployment Methodology and best practices for planning, data collection and sizing for a distributed deployment and manage and troubleshoot a standard distributed deployment with indexer and search head clustering. You will work with a team to maintain data accuracy and be responsible for supporting and defining processes and methodologies, resolving complex technical issues or research problems.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deploy, manage, sustain and troubleshoot complex data environments which will include Splunk Enterprise
  • Develop Concepts of Operations, Requirements, Basis of Design and critical design documents and drawings.
  • Perform network engineering and architecting duties on projects that support 1,000 users either internally or across enterprise.
  • Design, develop, build and implement information security within networks using DoD information security standards: network infrastructure life cycle management and developing detail end-to-end network performance assessments.
  • Propose new networking technologies in support of LANs, WANs and wireless networks for including in future designs.
    • Support the Network Operations Center Security Operations Center functions such as continuous monitoring, operating, report, detection, investigation and defending and maintaining the telecommunications, networks, and cybersecurity components.
    • Develop detailed end-to-end network performance assessments.
    • Devise testing strategies and execute test plans effectively.

    Required Skills

    • 7 years of experience in data engineering deployment methodologies.
    • 7 years of experience with NIST SP 800 series information security management aligned to Enterprise telecommunications and networks.
    • 7 years of experience with telecommunications and network in Cloud environments, including hybrid environments.
    • Familiarity with scripting languages such as PowerShell, Puppet or Ruby.
    • Knowledge of Network Engineering architecture and deployment.
    • Understanding of data structures and design of highly available systems.
    • Design enterprise architecture experience.
    • Thorough understanding of Splunk Deployment Methodologies.
    • Cisco Certified Architect or similar commercial enterprise network architect certification.
    • Demonstrated experience using Java or Python, Linux, SQL and SPL (Splunk Search) languages.
    • Demonstrated experience in enterprise IT telecommunications and networks with emphasis in DoD capabilities.
    • Ability to develop detailed end-to-end network performance assessments.
    • Understanding Security Information and Event Management (SIEM).

    Security Clearance Requirement

    • Candidates must possess an active DoD Secret Clearance (TS/SCI is preferred)

    Qualifications

      • BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related fields or 7 years of relevant experience.
      • Strong analytical skills, critical thinking skills and problem-solving skills.
      • Strong documentation and writing skills.
      • Cybersecurity Workforce (CSWF) IAT Level II certification is a plus.
      • Ability to work project tasks to completion with little to no supervision.
      • Self-motivated, highly organized and detail oriented with the ability to work independently, prioritize and multi-task.
