Houskeeper

Overview:
The Housekeeper is responsible for general cleaning areas in office buildings, resident halls or other areas and operating laundry machines and training others in laundry operations. This position must provide clean, sanitary comfortable,
orderly and satisfying surroundings for the students. The housekeeper promotes sanitary conditions which prevent the spread of infection and odors. She/he may be required to perform tasks, which involve exposure to visible blood contamination or reasonably anticipated blood contamination.

Physical Requirements:
This position demands good physical and mental health. The housekeeper will be required to lift, carry, walk, sit, push, pull and work a flexible schedule. Must be able to move continuously during work hours and able to lift and/or carry up to 75 pounds.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of basic cleaning techniques
Knowledge of cleaning equipment operation and maintenance
Ability to use cleansers and other agents to clean floors and furniture
Ability to use housekeeping cleaning supplies and equipment
Ability to work independently without close supervision
Ability to follow oral and/or written instructions

Duties:
Empty waste baskets, dumpy trash, and replace trash bags.
Wipe and clean furniture, such as desk tops, tables, and other surfaces.
Clean walls, windows, and windowsills.
Sweep, mop, and buff floors, vacuum and shampoo rugs, clean baseboards, dust furniture and fixtures, wash windows and blinds, and empty trash.
Strip and wax floors as needed.
Clean bathrooms fixtures and stock bathroom with soap, toilet tissue, and paper towels.
Clean areas requiring special cleaning methods, by use of specific cleansers, sterilized equipment, and/or disposing of contaminated wastes.
Issue towels and bed linens to members/students.
Collect and send dirty linen and towels to laundry.
