What are the responsibilities and job description for the Finance Manager position at ARETE?
Arete, an employee-owned company, is a growing research and development firm recognized for contributing to national security objectives by supplying innovative solutions to challenging technical problems faced by the United States. We have an immediate opening for a Finance Manager reporting to the Director of Finance. This is an exempt supervisory full-time position. The position can reside in either our Arlington, VA, Northridge, CA, Tucson, AZ or Valparaiso, FL offices.
SUMMARY:
Financial lead and business partner for an operating sector for the organization. Compiles and reviews budgets for sector and business areas using actual performance, previous budget figures, estimated revenue, expense reports, and other data sources to control funds and provide for proper financial administration. Prepares financial plans and regular and special-purpose reports, maintains historical records, analyzes trends, establishes cost rates and personnel forecasts, prepares comparative evaluation of actual costs against budgeted funds, and determines rationale for variances between costs and budget. Interface with DoD customers on contractual obligations, cost and schedule performance.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops and implements complex budgets and financial plans.
- Develops reports to provide comprehensive data for analysis by senior management.
- Analyzes customer contracts to determine cost and profit data.
- Develops complex financial metrics to provide data for senior management.
- Reviews weekly timesheet charges; assures timely and accurate completion
- Leads the EVM and scheduling requirements for large contracts.
- Manages and motivates a team of finance analysts.
- Additional duties, as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- BA/BS degree and 9 years experience or MA/MBA and 7 years experience.
- US citizenship required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
- Expert proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Powerpoint).
- Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop, evaluate and implement solutions.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Prior experience in a Defense contracting organization with TM1, DELTEK CostPoint software knowledge.
- Familiarity with SBIR/STTR contracts.
- Hands on knowledge of EVM methodology and reporting requirements.
- Experience with DELTEK Cobra and Acumen/Open Plan.
- MBA, CMA are a plus.
