What are the responsibilities and job description for the Software Engineer position at ARETE?
Areté Associates, an employee-owned company, is a growing research and development firm recognized for contributing to national security objectives by supplying innovative solutions to challenging technical problems faced by the United States. Our office in Tucson, AZ has an immediate opening for a Software Engineer reporting to the Principal Software Engineer. This is an exempt, non-supervisory, full-time position.
The Successful Candidate:
Entry level software developer needed for embedded and GUI software for Navy sensor data acquisition, system control and real time data processing/post processing. Collaborate with a team of software and hardware engineers to develop tools for testing, contribute to design documents, and develop cutting edge image processing systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with our software team lead to implement test software and system features for maritime airborne systems.
- Perform testing using remote HIL/SIL test equipment.
- Maintain project software documentation as needed.
- Learn skills needed by the team such as CUDA, embedded development and integration with hardware devices.
- Attend scrum meetings.
- Communicate with team leads on assignment status and obstacles.
- Actively use source control (Bitbucket) and bug reporting tools (JIRA).
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Computer Science.
- C, C or C# (or Java) programming required.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
- C# code development with WinForms and WPF.
- Experience with CUDA.
- Experience with embedded systems and FPGAs a plus, especially cross platform development using Linux and VS Code.
Tasks Performed: 60% code development and test, 30% design and documentation, 10% meetings
