The Staff Newsletter Writer contributes to Areya Media’s mission by creating engaging and effective newsletters that capture the attention of our subscribers/readers and grows our newsletter community month after month. The successful candidate will have a knack for crafting catchy, pithy copy and irresistible newsletter subject headlines.
The Staff Newsletter Writer has the following responsibilities and duties;
- Write, curate, and edit newsletters for the Okayplayer platforms
- Edit and proofread newsletters for grammar, punctuation, spelling, and style
- Coordinate daily with the editorial and social leads to curate best-in-class content for newsletters
- Collaborate with marketing and graphic design leads on new newsletter deliverables
- Pitch new creative newsletter ideas and topics to the content team
- Read copy or proof to detect and correct errors in spelling, punctuation, and syntax
- Organize layout and select photos for newsletters
- Perform A/B tests and provide suggestions for improvement
- Edit and proofread newsletters for grammar, punctuation, spelling,
- Assist in developing newsletter best practices and SOP’s.
The Staff Newsletter Writer should have the following skills, education and experience:
- 1-3 years of editorial and newsletter experience .
- Excellent editing skills and ability to adapt to our style guidelines
- Working knowledge of email marketing services, such as MailChimp
- In-depth understanding of audience engagement strategies
- Knowledge of and interest in arts/culture, and music, and/or experience is a big asset.
- Must have strong communication and organizational skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, or Journalism is preferred
- ABSOLUTELY needs to be a kind and consummate team player and willing collaborator.

- Salary: $600/week
