Under supervision operates and maintains facility infrastructure equipment and completes compliance activities in the assigned facility. Responsibilities include performing required facility surveillance requirements activities (e.g., setup, inspections, testing, quality assurance and calibration of safety systems) on schedule, maintaining records associated with facility activities, operating facility systems as trained/instructed, maintaining facility equipment, and interfacing with and engineering and maintenance personnel. Help maintain logs and technical documentation by taking measurements and recording observations related to electro-mechanical system maintenance, system performance, and system modifications. Must maintain knowledge and awareness of laboratory policies and procedures. Maintains awareness of the Laboratory ES&H policies and procedures and works in compliance on a day-to-day basis. TECHNICIANS MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE OR EQUIVALENT COMBINATION: TECH 1- High school and 0 yrs, TECH II- Associates & 1 yr, TECH III- Associates & 3 yrs, TECH Sr.- Associates & 5 yrs. Position Requirements
Argonne National Laboratory is in need of a Technician - Electro Mechanical II position. We are a multidisciplinary science and engineering research center, where talented scientists, engineers, skilled trades people and business professionals work together to answer the biggest questions facing humanity, from how to obtain affordable clean energy to protecting ourselves and our environment.
This person supports operations for scientific programs and equipment. Operates, maintains and troubleshoot specialized equipment like remoted controlled/robotic tools, cart, grips, and completes compliance activities in the assigned facility.
The candidate should have an associates degree in a related field and one year of relevant experience. Candidate must have some electrical experience.
  • Responsibilities include performing facility maintenance activities (e.g., installation , setup, quality assurance inspections, testing, and calibration of facility safety systems)
  • Proficient in the use of hand and shop tools, multimeters and basic measuring tools, install and terminate basic electronic cabling systems
  • Maintaining records associated with activities and operating systems as trained/instructed. Maintain logs and technical documentation by taking measurements and recording observations related to electro-mechanical system maintenance, system performance, and system modifications.
  • Assist users and interface with engineering and maintenance personnel.
  • Maintains awareness of the Laboratory ES&H policies and procedures and works in compliance on a day-to-day basis.
