What we need: We are looking for a Clinical Lab Assistant who will be responsible for performing specimen accessioning, sample sorting, and data entry in a fast-paced, high-throughput environment according to established standard operating procedures. Good data entry skills where accuracy is key will be needed for this position. Previous specimen handling/processing experience would be preferred.
Job Responsibilities:
- Enter patient demographic and test information accurately into the computer system, in a timely manner
- Process and accession laboratory samples for in-house testing and reference lab testing, in a timely manner
- Scan requisitions, run missing requisition reports, and follow up
- Assists laboratory personnel in the execution of laboratory processes and procedures
- Must be able to troubleshoot problems when necessary
- Maintain a clean environment
- Must complete annual training
- Complete procedures and work scheduled shifts without interfering with the quality of work or the quality of patient care
- Must be able to perform multiple tasks simultaneously
- Must maintain a clean and safe working environment, wear the proper personal protective equipment and practice and support safety in the workplace
- Ensure specimen stability and identify specimen errors and follow procedures to correct problems including proper documentation
- Must have the ability to recognize and perform duties that need to be performed although not directly assigned; regularly help others
- Perform all other job-related duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Requires HS grad or GED Equivalent.
- Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts on an as needed basis
- Requires strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team member
- Must be comfortable handling COVID and other infectious samples
- Understanding of laboratory policies and procedures
- Proficient with Laboratory Information Systems and MS Office
- Strong written and verbal communication
- High level of attention to detail with strong organizational skills
- Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
- Must be able to pass a standard Color Blindness test
