What are the responsibilities and job description for the Manager, Mainframe position at Arizona Department of Revenue?
This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.
The Manager, Mainframe is responsible for overseeing the Production Control Team who is responsible for the scheduling of daily batch production on both the mainframe and open systems, which includes maintaining accurate records of all production processing, problem resolution/escalations, daily request processing, and proper maintenance and updating of the scheduling tables. Additionally, the Manager, Mainframe acts as a liaison between Production Control and other areas within the Information Technology division in order to coordinate the production schedule with the needs of other divisions and users to ensure proper and timely completion of all required batch processing.
Supervision:
This position supervises a team of six (6) direct reports.

Job Requirements:
Education & Experience
-Any combination that meets the knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA); typical ways KSAs are obtained may include but are not limited to: a relevant degree from an accredited college or university such as Bachelor's Degree (e.g., B.A.), training, coursework, and work experience relevant to the assignment.
-Minimum of five years' experience in mainframe support or development with in one or more of the following: COBOL , JCL , VSAM , CICS , DB2, Assembler, REXX , SPUFI , TSO ISPF , RACF , and other critical mainframe technologies
-Minimum of four years' experience managing a mainframe operations function and leading major incident events driving recovery, root cause analysis and improvement opportunities
-Minimum of 3 years' experience mainframe modernization projects demonstrating a track record of success in leading and executing modernization initiatives

-Broad and generally deep understanding of all facets of management and leadership, as well as a vision for the specific business program/function being managed
-Thorough working knowledge of most infrastructure technologies and in-house developed applications utilized in the enterprise
-Thorough working knowledge of the agency's methodologies and tools
-Thorough working knowledge of the agency's policies and procedures
-Thorough working knowledge of interrelationships among various internal and external organizational functions

-Strong proficiency in the use of mainframe systems, such as INM mainframe
-Strong proficiency in the use of Production Control software such as Control-M
-Strong proficiency in the use of programing languages such as JCL, SQL and Linux based shell scripting
Abilities
-Ability to clear a comprehensive background and clearance process that includes an Arizona tax compliance verification, and a criminal background check through the FBI via level one fingerprint clearance through the Arizona Department of Public Safety
-Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy and also participate collaboratively as part of a team
-Ability to build, motivate, engage, develop/grow, and retain a high performing team
-Ability to work in a confidential manner, ensuring information is shared with internal and external individuals in an appropriate manner
-Ability to understand and solve problems by applying intermediate analytical skills to include collecting all the relevant information and data needed to address the problem; organizing, classifying and synthesizing the data into fundamental issues; from the information, identifying the most probable causes of the problem; reducing the information down into manageable components; identifying the logical outcomes from the analyses of the data collected; and, identifying the options and solutions for addressing the problems analyzed.

-In the course of performing the essential duties one must be able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
-No substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions (such as in typical office or administrative work.)
-Experience with Change Control Process
-Strong hands on, working knowledge of MS Active Directory
-Experience using/supporting High Volume Printers.
-Experience working in a secured environment dealing with FTI data
