The Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law seeks an engaging and collaborative individual for the position of Specialist, College of Law, using the title of “ASU Law School Fellow.” Working with a variety of staff and faculty, the fellow assists with projects, programs, and law school initiatives. This position is expected to last at least one year (12 months) from start of assignment and could be based in-person in either Phoenix or Washington, D.C., or remote.

Essential Duties

  • Acts as liaison with the community, students, faculty, and staff in facilitating university programs.
  • Analyzes research data and other literature and makes interpretations for application to related program, project, initiative or area of a department.
  • Assists faculty with research where appropriate.
  • Consults with staff, faculty, students and others to provide technical advice, problem solving assistance, answers to questions and program goals and policy interpretation.
  • Participates in the action plans for leadership teams and leaders to direct and guide related program, project, initiative or area of a department.
  • Provides support in developing budgets, performance indicators, and accountability reports for new programs and/or budget units.
  • Coordinates resources to meet the needs of the area assigned. Monitors the activities of assigned staff.
  • Provides training and professional development in the related subject matter or methodology.
  • Provides academic assistance to students where appropriate.
  • Prepares and conducts related program evaluation activities.
  • Develops and facilitates related workshops, conferences, and seminars.
  • Resolves field-related problems through written or verbal correspondence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the goals of the College of Law and/or ASU.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND three (3) years of related experience; OR, Seven (7) years of related experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Desired Qualifications

  • Evidence of a Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Experience in higher education administration.
  • Experience maintaining effective working relationships.
  • Experience working in a position requiring organizational skills and project management.
  • Experience performing detailed and complex numerical computations and reports, including analysis and evaluation of budgets, planning and other management information systems.
  • Experience designing and delivering presentation materials.
  • Evidence of effective communication.

Working Environment

Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work. Occasional Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds. Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts. Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
