The Tax Accountant reports to the Tax Manager. This position is responsible for:
- 11 legal entities for IRS federal tax reporting purposes, in accordance with corporate tax department’s internal guidelines, and responsible for assigned consolidated schedules and federal tax forms;
- 50-55 state and local income tax return reporting requirements and payments, as well as sales and use tax;
- Overall property tax function in coordination with outside consultants; and
- Assigned state audits including income, franchise, and sales & use.
- This position operates under minimal supervision in sales/use tax and property tax areas, and under moderate supervision in more complicated federal, state, and local income and franchise tax areas, including tax audits.
Key Activities and Responsibilities
- Prepares all required state income, franchise, and local tax returns, including estimates and extensions. Prepares all required state sales tax filings. 40%
- Prepares various federal income tax adjustments autonomously, including preparation of separate tax returns. 30%
- Handles all other tax assignments, including tax audits with moderate supervision. 15%
- Responsible for property tax filings handled by outside consultants. Reviews property tax filings and reports any issues. Monitors property tax payments. Ensures all work of consultant is done timely. Responds to internal questions from business on property tax status and variances. 10%
- Participates in other tax projects as requested by tax leadership. 5%
Context and Environment
- Little to no travel expected, with exception of a conference or team meeting, where required.
- Requires work time beyond normal work hours to meet tax deadlines or other project driven deadlines
- Supports the site HES policy and complies with all regulatory and internal requirements
- Participates in HES activities provided by site management and Arkema Inc. (e.g., Behavioral Base Safety, SafeStart, etc.)
- Supports and promotes the reporting of all health, safety, environmental, near-miss, accident or injury incidents
Required Education/Qualifications /Work Experience
- BS/BA in Accounting or Finance. CPA or CPA track a plus
- Minimum of 2 to 4 years’ of tax experience, including income/franchise, sales/use, and property tax.
- Experience working in public accounting (Big 4 or other large national firm) is strongly preferred
- Experience with SAP or OneSource a plus
- Intermediate Excel skills
