Job Description:
The position, Director of Social Services, reports directly to the Vice President of Clinical Services, and provides day-to-day oversight and adherence to all standards and expectations of the Social Services team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides supervision and guidance through leadership to the Social Services and Member Support teams.
- Maintains and ensures the successful process flow of all clinical programs established by USHS in accordance with our contracted partners.
- Provides oversight and ongoing training to USHS Social Services care management teams.
- Provide ongoing process and operational/staffing criteria for Social Service departments.
- Interact proactively with network providers/offices to educate on USHS services, problem solve and resolve care management/care coordination related issues or concerns.
- Collaborates and interacts with the Vice President of Clinical Services and Clinical Services Auditor to improve and implement any identified quality, productivity, or process improvements.
- Prepares and investigates any quality issues or complaints involving the USHS social services team.
- Collaborates with the Vice President of Quality and Performance to insure care management compliance according to USHS corporate and compliance policies.
- Reviews performance audits of social services care management team reporting with Clinical Services Auditor, to ensure corporate and partner compliance is met.
- Prepares and appropriately delivers reports and agendas as required and participates in meetings according to contracted standards.
- Acts as a resource for all staff for any operational or social concerns.
- Conducts performance evaluations and formulates disciplinary action plans, as appropriate.
- Participates and equally shares in after-hour and week-end Administrator on call coverage.
- Works collaboratively with the Vice President of Clinical Services and Director of Clinical Services to provide social services oversight to the clinical/ and social services teams.
- Work with HR team to conduct recruitment, hiring, and training of required personnel.
- Strong teamwork philosophy and willingness to accept change proactively.
Qualifications/Skills:
- Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid state, and local managed care regulations.
- Must have the ability to present clinical information both accurately and confidently.
- Able to communicate effectively and in a professional manner with all levels of internal staff and external customers.
- Ability to be detail-oriented, able to function under pressure and able to prioritize and re-prioritize tasks as needed.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, with minimal supervision.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills, both oral and written.
- Prior experience in managed care setting preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in social services or related field.
