Summary:
Dickinson Financial Corporation and its affiliated banks—Academy Bank, N.A. and Armed Forces Bank, N.A.—rely on experienced commercial banking professionals to positively impact economic development in our communities and to reach our growth objectives. The Portfolio Manager’s primary role is to perform relationship management responsibilities with limited oversight for an existing commercial banking portfolio. Portfolio Managers play a vital role in obtaining, analyzing, and recording commercial client financial information on an ongoing basis to assess continued credit quality and covenant compliance. Successful Portfolio Managers have the ability to analyze financial data and loan documentation, promote and monitor client relationships and growth, and conduct transaction negotiation for renewals, modifications, and new facilities for clients in the assigned portfolio.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Ensures timely tracking and detailed review of financial statements, loan covenants, and borrowing base reports.
- Ensures financial and collateral reporting is received and recorded timely by the bank imaging system, with support provided by commercial banking administrative associates. Maintains reporting within tickler deadlines to update and clear exception items.
- Regularly interacts with Executive Credit Committee with respect to portfolio clients by providing portfolio recommendations regarding hold size, risk ratings and watch list reporting; making recommendations to for periodic reviews and add-on opportunities; reporting on performance trends, preparing quarterly trend card updates and portfolio dashboard, and preparing annual reviews.
- Facilitates the preparation of credit underwriting memoranda and analysis of existing loans in connection with renewals and modifications. Assists in facilitating closing of transactions.
- With oversight, provides new business underwriting, including preparing and presenting underwriting memoranda for opportunities within region and/or vertical for initial opportunity screening and final credit approval.
- Works closely and collaboratively with other departments, including credit with respect to underwriting and performance, legal (inside and outside) on closing loans, and treasury management for treasury product sales and ongoing client treasury needs.
- Will mentor and develop skills of commercial banking support associates, including Associate Portfolio Managers and Commercial Banking Administrators.
- Attends outside client calls with commercial bankers.
- Attend marketing pipeline meetings.
- Ad hoc duties as assigned.

- Completes other specified duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in economics, accounting or finance preferred.
- Three-plus years of experience in underwriting and analyzing corporate credit, handling borrower relationships, and closing direct loan originations.
- Strong financial analysis; written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products.
Physical Requirements:
The work environment is typical of a standard office setting. The position is sedentary, exerting 0 – 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently. It involves sitting most of the time but may also involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Reaching may be required involving extending arms in any direction. Office equipment, such as a computer and telephone will be used requiring the use of hands and fingers to manipulate a keyboard or keypad. Visual ability to read a computer screen or written documents is necessary. Speaking ability to express or exchange ideas; impart oral information to customers or to the public; or convey detailed or important spoken instructions by means of the spoken word is required. Hearing is necessary to receive detailed information through oral communication.
