HR Generalist Job Description

Basic Job Functions:

Responsible for performing a broad range of HR-related duties while providing day-to-day HR support for assigned manufacturing crew(s) and/or departments. Partner closely with manufacturing associates, supervisors, and other leaders in supporting our manufacturing operations. Ensure all human resources functions and activities are carried out effectively, efficiently, and in accordance with Arning Companies, Inc. Core Values and Culture. This includes coordination and implementation of policies, procedures, and programs in the following functional areas: benefits, employee relations, training, safety, policy implementation, and employment law compliance.

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 to 3 years’ experience in Human Resources required or min. 6 years of experience in any similar combination of education and experience
  • Proven employee relations and safety experience a plus
  • Knowledge of HRIS systems a plus

Required Skills/Competencies:

  • Understanding of general human resources policies and procedures
  • Good knowledge of employment/labor laws
  • Time management & strong organization skills
  • Excellent verbal, written communication, and people skills

  • Have the ability to work with a high level of confidentiality, professionalism, and discretion

  • Must be self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Proficient use of all Microsoft Office suite programs and HRIS systems.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the day-to-day management of HR operations; administration of policies and procedures and programs of the organization.
  • Partnering with employees and managers in several departments to provide HR guidance between Benefits, Safety, and other HR internal departments to ensure quick, equitable, and courteous resolution
  • Responsible for employee relations; with oversight, communicates & assist in resolving associates’ concerns appropriately and in a timely and ethical fashion
  • Administer and assisting with the day-to-day functions of the HR Generalist for onboarding, off-boarding, recruitment, leave cases and employment status changes
  • Assisting talent acquisition and recruitment processes
  • Help Organizational Development to help plan training and develop
  • Organizes and manages and maintains confidential personnel and human resources information files electronically
  • Recommend improvements to HR processes and systems
  • Assist in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures, policy interpretation and adherence
  • Participate with planning and implementation of team and personal goals
  • Oversee and maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment and benefit laws and regulations
  • Gather and analyze data with useful HR metrics; prepare reports
  • Performing other duties as assigned

Reporting Relationships:

  • Reports directly to the Director of Human Resources.

Travel:

  • Some travel is required to other Arning office/manufacturing locations.
