Summary
Our engineers are responsible for taking a concept or design intent and turning it into a manufacturable solution. We need someone with hands-on 3D design experience, an engineering focus, and the ability to balance multiple demands in our fast-paced environment. We want an engineer who wants to apply their knowledge, think creatively, and communicate with their internal and external teams to develop engineering solutions, work with design concepts, and prepare technical assembly drawings / schematics.
Essential Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Transform design intent drawings into manufacturing solutions that exemplify customer expectations.
- Make sure the project meets client needs, budget, timeline, and quality standards.
- Develop and detail 3D models of the product solution in SolidWorks.
- Create technical drawings for use in Prototyping and Production.
- Generate an accurate bill of materials to include all components required for projects.
- Perform strength testing and structural analysis in SolidWorks.
- Identify appropriate and cost-effective materials and processes.
- Ensure that all safety regulations are met.
- You will stay abreast of industry, market and material trends through publications, trade shows, seminars or conferences.
- You will work directly with the project team in collaborative groups to establish ways to innovate considering the principles of Design for Sustainability, Design for Value, Design for Manufacturing and Design for Retail.
- You work closely with our clients and a global project team in developing and executing design and engineering solutions to ensure they are innovative, cost-effective, meet our best manufacturing practices, and comply with customer reporting.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Industrial Design (or similar field).
- Have more than two years of experience in retail design, furniture design / construction or related experience.
- 100% proficiency in English and bilingual Spanish.
- Have expert level experience with SolidWorks, MS Excel and Word.
- Learn new technologies easily and you can have exposure to CNC Programming, Autocad and Illustrator.
- Can balance multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Creation of production packages and workshop drawings.
- Development of solutions that use plastics, metals and wood.
- High volume manufacturing design (injection molding, Vac-Forming, extrusions).
- You can confidently defend your choices while accepting constructive criticism and comments.
- You can compose clear and concise business emails with ease.
