Job Description
The Purchasing Manager position is responsible to manage all company purchasing. This includes determining purchasing needs, managing vendor relationships, negotiating material pricing and managing warehouse personnel and activities.
Purchasing Manager Essential Duties
- Determine purchasing needs and manage materials, tools, and equipment orders for company projects and departments.
- Manage communications with Department/Project teams for materials, tools, and equipment orders
- Complete project quotes to order materials, tools, and equipment for projects.
- Resolve invoicing and payables issues with Accounting Team
- Collaborate with Estimating on pricing for target projects.
- Utilize and maintain database for P.O. entry and tracking.
- Maintain database of stored materials for use by Department/Project teams.
- Evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, service, availability and reliability.
- Work with vendors on material returns and credits.
- Develop and maintain vendor relationships.
- Work with Fleet Maintenance Manager to manage vehicle life cycle process: procurement, service/maintenance, and disposal.
- Participate in Project Handoff Meetings.
- Continually improve and streamline internal fulfillment processes and customer experience
- Coordinate delivery of materials to project sites.
- Perform other job duties as assigned.
Purchasing Manager Minimum Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years of Purchasing and Warehouse Management experience.
- Thorough knowledge of the electrical industry and materials.
- Exceptional communications (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with careful attention to detail and timely follow-through.
- Possess a strong focus for customer relations, both external and internal.
- Must be self-directed and capable of handling multiple tasks and problem solving with
- minimal supervision.
- Able to work effectively in stressful, time-sensitive environments.
