Darwin’s Natural Pet Products is seeking an Accounting Specialist to join our Finance department. The Accounting Specialist will perform accounting functions around month end close, accounts payable and assist the accounting department with daily tasks as needed. This position will be in-person at our Tukwila, WA headquarters but has the potential for remote work for the right person.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the day-to-day management of accounting department.
- Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
- Support accounts payable function by preparing and entering invoices into accounting software and other programs, setting up new vendors, running reports and troubleshooting invoice discrepancies.
- Assist with design, testing and integration of accounting system implementations.
- Document existing processes and providing recommendations to improve them.
- Preparing journal entries, analyses, and account reconciliations and assisting with monthly close processes.
- Perform daily accounting operations to assure the accurate and timely preparation of financial statements and reporting, tax returns, and budgets.
- Assist with expense reports and credit card administration, including reconciliation and review tasks.
- Assist with audit requests and tax schedules as needed.
- Serve as department back-up for various functions.
- Ad hoc duties and project support in accounting and finance as assigned.
Desired Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field or equivalent experience.
- A minimum 3 years of industry experience, 2-3 years manufacturing accounting & sales tax experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of accounting concepts and financial statements.
- Ability to work on weekends and evenings as needed to meet applicable deadlines.
- Tech-savvy in MS Office Suite and able to learn new systems quickly, intermediate/advanced level in Excel, including proficiency with lookups and pivot tables a plus.
- Hands on experience with core ERP software a plus.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated problem solving and process improvement skills.
- Ability to work well as part of a small team.
- Ability to set priorities and goals and follow through on multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Passion for ensuring healthy pet lifestyles – with the ability to understand and empathize with pet feeding issues – is a plus.
FLSA Status: Full-time, Non-Exempt
